Workshop: Improv for Life….with wine!

Thursday, July 25, 2019 | 7-9pm

We need improv in every day life, whether in a job interview, a sticky work situation or dealing with kids. Studies show that improv is more therapeutic than therapy, and of course it’s much more fun! In this “Improv for Life” workshop, you will step outside of your comfort zone, laugh and learn to say “yes and…” Utilizing various improv games and exercises you will have the opportunity to play, and let go of control. Come reap the benefits of spontaneity and laughter. This mini class will set you on the path to increased confidence, improved public speaking skills, enhanced creative-thinking abilities, improved listening and observation skills and more. Ok, so you may not reap all of those benefits in one two hour class, but why not join in and see?

Facilitator:

Kim Selby is constantly reinventing herself and as she enters Act 3 of her life, she has found her passion in the art of improv. Act 1 found her living in NYC, working in advertising, P.R. and as a Merchandising Editor at Glamour Magazine. While there she traveled the country bringing the pages of the magazine to life via fashion shows featuring the infamous Glamour Do’s and Don’ts. In SF she honed her writing skills as an editor at a small newspaper and then became Fashion Director at Saks Fifth Avenue in Palo Alto. Fashion prevailed and after having two kidlets she formed her own company producing fashion shows for various organizations and schools – Act 2. While producing these shows with real people, she realized that given the opportunity, women, men, boys and girls of all shapes and sizes truly rocked the runway. A little coaching, great clothes and music and they were transformed. Now, Kim creates events for women helping them access their inner Rock Star, Diva, model (it’s in all of us!). It’s in stepping outside of our comfort zones that Kim helps women find more joy, happiness and laughter in life.

Speak Like A Pro--Use The Power of Storytelling to Ace Your Interview, Social Networking or Next Presentation

Storytelling enhances all aspects of public speaking. Kristin Link will share specific storytelling techniques you can use to get clarity about your own story, discern your audience’s story and concisely describe the story you’ll tell. From casual social interactions to interviews we all are called upon to tell our story on an ongoing basis. Prepare to participate and have fun as we work together to get our stories straight.

Join us for this hands-on workshop as you discover how to confidently craft and share success stories that are clear, concise and impactful.

Participants will learn:

  • The importance of story

  • The difference between confidently sharing and bragging

  • To craft a concise success story

  • To confidently share a success story

Instructor:

Kristin Link inspires her clients to discover their stories. In doing so, they learn more about themselves, find their voice and speak their truth. When authentic stories are shared, self-advocacy begins and the impact is quite profound.

Prior to being a Public Speaking Coach and Storyteller, Kristin spent years working in tech. With Computer Science degree in hand, she began a career at Hewlett-Packard, first in technical roles, then in sales and marketing before moving into leadership training. The skillset she learned from all of this is the foundation of what she shares with her clients.

She founded her business, Link Coaching, so she could inspire people to share their stories and create a meaningful difference. She’s had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, from TEDx speakers to executives to entrepreneurs. Kristin can often be found deeply listening to her clients. Honored to hear their stories. Helping them make a difference.

Instructor: Kate Harding is the founder and CEO of Power Writing, a business writing consultancy that supports executives in Silicon Valley and beyond. Through one-on-one coaching, Kate helps people in business develop the writing skills they need to succeed. Workshop: The Enneagram

Workshop: The Enneagram

Join this workshop to learn about the Enneagram and how it might benefit you at work and at home. The Enneagram is a system of nine personality types -- each with a different motivation, and each with its own strengths and weaknesses. This can be a refresher for those previously exposed to the Enneagram, or a great introduction to this useful tool. The workshop will be more insightful if you take one of the tests below and bring the results with you (unless you already know your type). You will leave with a better understanding of how the Enneagram works and how it can benefit your own development and your relationships.

Two options for tests. The longer test is recommended because the results tend to be more reliable and helpful so well worth the investment (a little time and $12).

Recommended ($12):  RHETI paid test (can take up to 40 minutes and must be taken in one sitting)

Faster optional (free): Fast Enneagram test by Marshall Aeon (5 minutes)
