Position Title: Web Developer, Front-end 

Department: Information Technology Services 

Hours: 40 Per Week 

Status: Non-Exempt 

PT/FT/Temp: Full Time 

Reports to: Director of Web and Mobile Platform Development 


Short Descriptions: 

The Web Developer, Front-end contributes the user-facing development portions of a variety of projects including web and mobile-optimized sites, apps, and other digital offerings for the Web and Mobile Platform Development team at one of the largest and most innovative seminaries in the world. 


The person in this position will participate in every part of the development cycle.  As projects are taken from the idea to reality stage, they will help assess viability and ways to make sure it succeeds while also ensuring it meets user needs and expectations. Then in the phase of bringing the project from hypothetical to reality, they will be part of the development team focusing on the front-facing, aesthetically-important work first but also contributing to the back end development as well. 


We are a small, dispersed team that has a personal and responsive dynamic. This allows for a fair amount of freedom for someone who is self-initiating and can reliably deliver. · Contribute code and visual design expertise to the building and maintenance of websites and mobile apps  

· Champion the aesthetics, style, and branding of project elements 

· Update existing systems with the latest versions of software and best practices for code, development, and design 

· Identify opportunities and potential improvements to the digital landscape of the institution and its role on the frontier of graduate education in theology, psychology and culture 

· Help assess requests and stakeholder requirements on projects to accurately plan and execute on them 

· Contribute to project planning with insights on viability, scheduling, and risks 

· Do quality assurance on new and existing work 

· Keep up with latest tools and trends and share them with the team 



Required skills: 

· Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience in Design, UX/UI, or related field 

· Experience with full dev cycle of web projects from conception through launch and maintenance 

· Strong understanding of the concepts and workings behind responsive design 

· 3+ years experience with CSS (CSS preprocessors like Sass or LESS a plus) 

· Designing, customizing, deploying and maintaining WordPress sites 

· 2+ years experience with Javascript and JQuery (React.js or other JS frameworks a plus) 

· Experience with PHP (MySQL a plus) 

· Fluency with UX Design tools Sketch, Adode XD, and/or InVision 

· Image editing and optimization (including using Photoshop) 

· Understanding of SEO and Google Analytics 

· Effective communication skills (written, verbal and visual) and ability to document projects 

· Ability to work autonomously
