The work location for this position is flexible and can be based remotely or at one of the Firm’s offices.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Research Associate supports investment professionals on the Research team. Reporting to the Director of Research, the Associate summarizes, analyzes and updates information on public companies being considered for investment. Assignments are directed by one or more Analysts on the Research team. The ideal candidate is an intrinsically motivated team player who sets high expectations for him/herself and has a passion for analyzing great businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Creating and updating financial models with a focus on accuracy, thoughtfulness and consistent formatting
Helping with the analysis of industry structures and competitive dynamics, including creating comp tables on peers
Quarterly earnings spreadsheet updates and email summaries
Writing notes and summaries of earnings updates and other
communications from company management
Collecting and organizing KPIs to inform the investment analysis
Data analysis, including screening work with Factset, CapitalIQ or
Bloomberg, consolidating and tracking industry and census data, and maintenance of watch lists
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of four years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree are required. Recommended to have 2 years experience in public equities. Track record of regularly creating and updating a high volume of complex financial models
Strong accounting, financial and industry-level competitive strategy analysis skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter and ability to work independently
Track record of effectively managing multiple priority assignments
Highest degree of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
