The Role: Payroll Specialist, Full-Time

Location: Palo Alto

Palantir: A World-Changing Company

At Palantir, we’re passionate about building software that solves problems. We partner with the most important institutions in the world to transform how they use data and technology. Our software has been used to stop terrorist attacks, discover new medicines, gain an edge in global financial markets, and more. If these types of projects excite you, we'd love for you to join us.

The Role
The Finance Team supports and empowers Palantirians through both day-to-day operations and creative problem-solving. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be responsible for payroll administration — but you'll also spot inefficiencies, brainstorm solutions, and drive projects to completion. If you're constantly looking for ways to improve processes because you're unsatisfied by the status quo, this role is for you.

In this role, you will be responsible for the full cycle, multi-state U.S. payroll process, maintaining accurate payroll records and resolving any inconsistencies. You will ensure accurate taxation of employees, audit timecards to ensure accuracy, and respond to tax notices, fixing any identified errors and resolving discrepancies across all areas of responsibility. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll proactively identify areas where payroll workflows and processes can be improved and see them through to resolution. You'll also support Palantir employees by promptly responding to questions and requests.

What We Value

    • Understanding of payroll and accounting best practices. Multi-state payroll experience is a plus.

    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new systems and programs. Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, Workday, and Netsuite is a plus.

    • Experience operating in a fast-paced, outcome-oriented environment with excellent follow-through.

    • Proactivity, and the ability to prioritize and operate autonomously in ambiguity.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence.

    • Excellent at working on open-ended problems and running them to completion.

    • Excellent at understanding urgency and prioritizing tasks.

    • Data-driven, detail-oriented and able to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.
