Our client is the provider of the world's most rugged, water-submersible mobile phones designed specifically for workers in demanding and hazardous environments. They specialize in workforce-critical communication tools for vertical industries including construction, security guarding, oil, gas and chemical operations, utilities, transportation and logistics, forestry, agriculture and defense.
The Legal Counsel will be supporting the CFO in this role and will have high visibility while assisting the company go public in 2019. This is a full time Executive level role.
The successful candidate will work closely with the VP of Intellectual Property to:
Draft and negotiate commercial, business development, HR and intellectual property agreements
Review and update template agreements
Create and manage internal contracts processes and other legal processes, procedures, and infrastructure to help Sonim scale to a much larger company
Provide support to the Executive Team on a wide range of legal matters
Advise on data privacy, licensing, disclosure, human resources, and intellectual property matters;
Oversee patent and trademark matters, including litigation
Act as the point person for legal disputes involving the Company, including IP and commercial matters
Provide day-to-day legal advice
Interface with and manage outside counsel
Job Qualifications
At least 5 years of corporate legal experience in a business environment
Experience managing junior attorneys
Experience with initial public offerings and M&A a plus
Overall broad legal knowledge (Corporate law, contracts, regulatory, employment, patents)
Ability to provide clear and concise, business-oriented legal advice
High degree of professional ethics and integrity
Excellent judgment and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and balance business needs with legal risks
Great interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
The ability to work with a wide range of people throughout the company in a collaborative and constructive manner
J.D. degree and license to practice law in California required
