The Role:

We’re seeking a Director of Talent Acquisition to lead the Recruiting team at Course Hero. We see you as the strategic business owner of the entire Recruiting function, reporting into Course Hero’s Vice-President of People.

Course Hero has grown from 50 to just about 150 team members in the last 3 years. We’d look to you to lead our Talent Acquisition team to support the accelerated growth we envision over the next few years, in order to meet our strategic company goals and bets. You’d partner with and guide our Department Heads in designing effective hiring plans across the organization while being a true advocate for Course Hero’s Talent Acquisition team. You’ll be a champion of our candidate experience - which is truly stellar - and ensure a strong values alignment within every team member we hire.   

Though we’ve built a strong recruiting culture and established foundational processes already, we’d look to you to develop and launch new recruiting strategies, while also optimizing our existing practices. Last but certainly not least, you’d mentor and manage our existing Talent Acquisition team, while also growing the team in the most optimal way to support company hiring goals.

Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:

  • You’ll lead, manage and mentor our existing Talent Acquisition team. You’ll provide career development opportunities, empower Talent Acquisition team members to work autonomously, continue to develop the culture and best practices of the team, and champion Recruiting as a core business practice throughout the company.

  • You’ll design a staffing plan and grow the Recruiting team to support Course Hero’s continued growth. This means hiring and effectively leading internal Talent Acquisition team members of various career-levels, while also determining, securing, and managing external resources as needed.

  • You’ll embody our values to the fullest. You’ll develop our strategy and processes for assessing our core values in each prospective new team member, and you’ll train our team members in evaluating for values. You’ll also work with People Operations to ensure consistent values alignment past initial onboarding.

  • You’ll develop and oversee programs and initiatives within the entire employee lifecycle, in partnership with People Ops.  

  • You’ll manage and provide guidance during executive search processes.

  • You’ll evaluate and optimize our existing Talent Acquisition processes and best practices. Some of these include our referral program, candidate experience initiatives, interview training and hiring manager training, values assessment, internal recruiting programs, and on-campus recruiting and job conference presence.

  • You’ll also design and launch new world-class recruiting strategies, as well as the processes for execution. Some of these areas we’re excited about include employer brand, diversity & inclusion, recruiting analytics and data, etc.

  • Ultimately, you’ll own Course Hero’s Talent Acquisition strategy. This involves working closely with business leaders in mapping out company hiring goals aligned with business objectives, and you’ll build and manage effective and trusting business partner relationships to do this successfully.

Are you our Director of Talent Acquisition?

  • You’ve gained at least 5-7+ years of experience in Recruiting. We’d prefer the majority of this to be in-house, with an emphasis in a start-up or small/mid-sized technology company.

  • You have at least 3+ years of experience managing and growing an internal Recruiting team.  

  • You possess phenomenal communication skills, both written and verbal. You can be trusted to be an effective representative of Talent Acquisition with stakeholders through the organization, while also representing Course Hero externally.

  • You are a problem solver, an authentic leader of high integrity, with a strong set of core values. You can build trust with your team, stakeholders, and candidates, and you are truly driven to help your team and company succeed.  

  • You possess dynamic strategic capability, exceptional planning, and have gained experience leading and designing specific Talent Acquisition initiatives.

  • You have experience with our tools and resources, and you have the knowledge and experience required to select and implement the most effective tools. (Greenhouse, LI Recruiter, Entelo, Glassdoor, Stack Overflow, HIRED, etc.)

  • You have experience outlining and holding a team accountable to clear recruiting metrics. You also have experience designing and managing a Talent Acquisition budget.
